The global rise of thermal sensors and the widespread deployment of drones have made multispectral camouflage an essential requirement for modern land forces. Thermal sensor and drones are here to stay and will only become more prevalent and letal with the aid of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Highly effective thermal (TIR) camouflage paired with highly effective visual (VIS) camouflage stands as the primary countermeasure against this revolutionary technological threat. In response to this challenge, ProApto has developed and patented a proprietary thermal camouflage solution designed to protect humans, maximising survivability when it matters most.
anti-drone
camouflage
Drones reshaped conflicts, outlining how cheap handmade quadcopters can annihilate millions of modern battle tanks and making highly qualified trained operators defenseless. ProApto Thermal Camouflage offers unparalleled Multispectral Camouflage even at "drop range".
thermal
camouflage
ProApto indipendently developed and patented individual multispectral camouflage to provide adequate counter-thermal measures against the increasing proliferation of hand and rifle mounted thermal sensors, as well as to the escalating threat of thermal drones and UAS. ProApto anti-thermal camouflage provides simultaneous VIS - NIR and TIR concealment maximising soldiers' survivability and lethality on the contemporary peer-to-peer battlefield.
signature
management
The aim of Thermal Camouflage is to reduce the operator's thermal signature as to match the background signature, without making the user as the "hottest" or "coldest" spot of the scene. ProApto counter-thermal suits do this by tuning the human thermal signature to the environmental thermal radiation in any environment in the vast majority of weather conditions (according to extensive statistical analyses and empirical observations).
data analyses
Using inferential statistics and Bayesian modelling, academic researchers analysed that ProApto TIR camouflage has a statistically significant effect in tuning human thermal signature to the surrounding environment (both natural and urban).
ProApto camouflage significantly reduces the operator’s TIR signature tuning it around 0.6% (+/-8%) of discrepancy from the environment’s TIR signature at distances between 50mt and 250mt in the vast majority of environmental conditions and settings.
multispectral fabric features
ProApto multispectral camouflage is based on patented textiles with the following features:
• thickness: from 0.1mm to 0.3mm
• weight: from 120gsm to 350gsm
• water-resistant / amphibious
• breathable and not insulating
• extremely silent
• washable with no decay of performance
• can undergo further treatments
amphibious
camouflage
Since ProApto multispectral camouflage does not decay with time and water, it is suited for amphibious uses and operations ranging from static observation to amphibious reconnaissance. ProApto individual multispectral solutions are equally effective in fresh and salt waters ensuring stable and long-lasting concealment for the operators. The same item can be used effectively from the sea to the alps.

lightweight
solution
ProApto individual multispectral (VIS - NIR - TIR) camouflage is lightweight and easily transportable across long distances and transitions. The individual counter-thermal systems as full body coverage range between 1.2 kg and 2.5 kg of weight (in average 1.8 kg) and are packable in 25 x 30 x 30 cm bags. ProApto camouflage platforms both feature highly effective 2D and 3D camouflage, ensuring high adaptability in manifold environments.
HIgh NIR effectiveness
ProApto Multispectral Camouflage has a Near-Infrared Reflectance (NIR) consistent with the intended environment of use. This results in extremely effective night vision camouflage even at very close range for both ProApto 2D and 3D elements. Even when the camouflage is irradiated by IR lasers and illuminators, it remains effective without unwanted reflections (uncommon for the vast majority of military clothing).
ergonomics /
modularity
ProApto Multispectral Camouflage solutions are designed as modular and multipurpose systems. The operator can choose whether to use a full-body coverage or a partial coverage, depending on the operational needs. For example, the hood can be removed from the Poncho or the Ghillie Suit and used independently. In the same vein, limb covers can be worn or used to conceal optronics and firearms. Several ponchos can be connected together to cover vehicles and valuable assets.
Vehicle
camouflage
Despite the main focus of ProApto camouflage is the individual, we do also provide multispectral camouflage for light tactical vehicles (off-roads, quads, pick-ups, light armoured tactical vehicles and general purpose vehicles).
Multispectral camo solutions are designed to reduce detection across the visible and the whole infrared spectrum, ensuring maximum survivability in diverse operational environments. These lightweight systems can be customized to fit various vehicle profiles and are compatible with modular designs for quick deployment.

Multispectral Camouflage is about protecting and saving lives when it matters the most. Because of this, ProApto openly shares the level of its multispectral effectiveness to better educate and inform the end users. In the same vein, Multispectral Camouflage is object of extensive and comprehensive outdoor testing, followed by statistical data analyses. The final result is a transparent relationship with the end users.

As with AI, you have no choice. Multispectral sensors and widespread use of drones are here to stay, improving rapidly—jump by jump—while becoming cheaper, more effective, and more pervasive, influencing every aspect of modern operations (and even your regular ways of living). For every soldier and asset, achieving superior camouflage effectiveness across the entire electromagnetic spectrum will be non-negotiable. The turnover of visual (VIS) camouflage patterns must accelerate to outpace the relentless learning and adaptation speed of AI systems. Just like in past industrial revolutions: first come, first served.
